About the Programme
  • The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDM) programme of Bhavan's Sardar Patel College of communication and Management (SPCCM) is part of Bhavan's pioneering efforts to impart knowledge and skills for the holistic development of the aspiring student managers.

  • This Programme gain a lot from the long experience and academic resources of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Delhi Kendra which organizes management courses for the practicing managers.

  • With an intensive curriculum, the programme offers an enduring knowledge base, aims to equip the student to face practical business problems in different perspectives and inculcate sound business practices to face contemporary business solutions.
  • The 2-year business management programme at SPCCM, New Delhi has been designed with vision and great care. It is intensive and exhaustive in coverage and content. At the same time, there is a flexibility and a practical real-world approach relevant in the Indian and International business environment. To respond to the need of the time, new courses and subjects would be introduced.

Duration
  • The programme is of two year duration. The Classes of 2008-2010 session will commence in July 2008. It is full time and non-residential. Students looking for accommodation have to make their own arrangements for boarding and lodging etc.

Eligibility for Admission
  • The minimum qualification of candidates seeking admission to the programme would be a Bachelor's degree in arts, Science, Law, Commerce, Medicine, Engineering or Technology from any recognised university or an equivalent degree or diploma.

  • In addition, the candidate must have appeared at any of the major national level management aptitude test such as CAT, MAT, XAT or ATMA.

  • Final year students are also eligible to apply, provided they submit evidence of graduation within 90 days of the commencement of the session. Defaulters' admission would be cancelled. There would be no refunds.

Procedure for Admission

  • The information bulletin and the application form can be obtained from our office on the payment of Rs. 700 in cash or Rs. 700 by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, payable at New Delhi. For NRI - sponsored / International candidates, the equivalent amount payable is US$ 15. The fee for prospectus and application shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
  • The application form can also be downloaded from our website (www.bvbspccm.org) and the same will be accepted by the Institute on payment of a Demand Draft of Rs. 700 drawn in favour of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan payable at New Delhi.

Selection Process
  1. The admission process comprises of the following stages:

    1) Screening Test : Candidates have to appear in any one of the following:-

    (a) CAT conducted by IIMs
    (b) Management Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by AIMA
    (c) ATMA conducted by Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS)
    (d) XAT conducted by XLRI

    2) Group Discussion and Personal Interview:

The final selection of the candidates will be based on the candidate's overall performance in the written test, group discussion and personal interview.

Library
  • The institute has one of the largest collections of management books and is also an Institutional Member of International Libraries. The Library subscribes to several business Magazines and Periodicals of Indian and International repute. An excellent video library catering to various disciplines in management is available to students. The department has sufficient internet facilities and students can sign-up for internet training and use.

  • Student assignment are devised in a manner to develop their ability to research and organise information from the best and the latest in publications and other information sources.

Computer Centre and Audio Visual Studio
  • The students are exposed to the latest trends and developments in the field of Management through audio visual aids. A well-equipped Audio Visual Studio (A.V. Studio) and a Computer lab with the latest software / business packages are provided with exclusive facilities for the management students.

  • Advanced server with HCL terminals and stand-alone computers are accessible to students.

  • Students undergo a complete and thorough orientation in computers to prepare them to effectively function in a modern business environment.

  • The computer lab is open from 9.30 am onwards to facilitate the students in acquiring the latest skills in computers, at no extra cost.

Attendance
  • The candidate shall become eligible to take the end of semester Examination only if he / she has, besides fulfilling other requirements, attended 75% of the total number of lectures, tutorials and seminars conducted during that Term in the subject concerned unless otherwise allowed by the appropriate authority.

Placement Assistance
  • The institute has an active Placement Cell which facilitates students in obtaining suitable positions. It continuously counsels and guides the students in their endeavor to plan their long-term goals. The institute encourages students to actively involve in the placement activities.

Fees
  1. Annual Tuition fees (2008-2010): Rs.1.65 lakhs* p.a. plus Rs. 10,000 security deposit (onetime payment, refundable). The other expenses if any, are on actuals.

  2. The payment of fee would be as follows :
    Rs. 95,000/- plus Rs. 10000/- at the time of admission offer to the students.
    Rs. 70,000/- in first week of December every year.

*Fee is provisional and subject to change. It includes tution fee, cost of books and reading material. Laptop is currently provided to each student without any additional cost.

Course Curriculum
  • The programme curriculum would be as per the AICTE norms/ requirements. The structure of the PGDM would consist of core as well as Elective Subjects. The Institute offer four specializations for students to choose from. These would be in HR, Finance, Marketing and IT depending upon demand/ requirements of the students. Out of these, students would be required to take two specialization/ concentration of subjects. In each specialization, sufficient number elective courses would be offered to choose from by the students. The Industry requirements/ demand would be kept in mind while offering such courses. These would be in line with what is offered in the best B-Schools in India and abroad including (IIM's).

  • A mix of pedagogical approaches would be adopted consisting of class lectures, group discussion, role plays, case method etc. in order to enhance the learning of the students from the program. A good blend of theoretical and applied academic inputs would be provided both in side as well outside the classroom. Emphasis would be on the overall development of the students, developing skills required for successfully performing in the organisation and values that keep a person going in the long run.

  • Students would be tested on continuous basis for their learning. Tests, exams, presentations, quizzes, project work etc. would be administered for this purpose. Relative grading system would be adopted to evaluate the students.

  • During the course of the program, students would be required to undertake on the job/ practical training in different organisations.
