| About the Programme |
- With an intensive curriculum, the programme, Post Graduate diploma in Management (PGDM) offers an enduring knowledge base, aims to equip the student to face practical business problems in different perspectives and inculcates sound business practices to face contemporary business solutions.
- The 3-year PGDM (Part Time) business management programme at Sardar Patel College of Communication and Management, it has been designed with vision and great care. It is quite intensive and exhaustive in coverage and content. At the same time there is a degree of flexibility and a practical real-world approach relevant in the Indian and International business environment. To respond to the need of the time, new courses and subjects are being introduced in this programme. Ours may be one of the first business schools to introduce ERP, Ethics in business, Computerised Business System, Computerised Financial Accounting, Software Engineering, Enterprise Information System, CRM etc. in the curriculum.

| Orientation Programme |

Recognizing the fact that the students admitted to the programme are from different disciplines, orientation programme in the field of finance, Quantitative Techniques and Computer Application are organised on weekends so that the students are equipped well to comprehend the subjects when they are taken up in the class. No extra charge for this additional input, but the students at the time of admission should register for the subject (s) in which they would like to undergo orientation.

| Teaching Method |
- An established and time-tested institution, the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan combines the ancient values of India along with best of facilities of the modern world. Along with rigorous lectures, a host of new teaching techniques including real-world case studies developed by Bhavan's faculty in tandem with the industry, presentations by top management practitioners and specialists, situational analysis etc. from a strong knowledge and skill base imparted to Bhavan's students. A strong point of this programme is the on-going and regular interaction with business and industry leaders providing the students with real life platform to experience the application and effective result its of what is taught as concepts in their classrooms. In all, the programme aims to prepare true Indian management warriors for successful Indian corporate at the market place in the 21st century.
- Periodic seminars with speakers drawn from amongst the best and the brightest in Indian corporate world are held almost on a monthly basis throughout the academic session. A unique feature of this institute is the Industry-student Interaction Forum - Bhavan's Management Group. This faculty guided and student - run forum exposes students to real world situations and allows student-run-consultancy services to local, medium and small businesses.
- "Industry and Career" - a series of sector wise seminars exposes students to typicalities and career promises of specific industries. Students here are face to face with industry veterans and top managers.

- Above mentioned being the buzzwords of today's business environment, Bhavan's students are groomed to mould themselves and prove themselves effective and ethical managers in emerging competitive business environment in India and International context.
- Student Achievement Awards are given to students excelling in academics in their respective subject(s) / area(s).
- High Achiever's Awards for extra curricular activities - organising Projects, Developing Consultancy etc. also recognise would-be managers. The atmosphere at the institute nurtures the growth of the student as a functional individual, a constructive team member and a visionary leader. It aims to provide an exciting environment for developing world class leaders / managers who are sensitive to cultural differences and cultural nuances in the increasing globalised environment. A student is expected to learn the skills necessary to take out the best from each person, to be able to motivate, persuade and interact with seniors and subordinates alike. Students work in groups on various assignments and presentations in each subject area to develop and fine tune these qualities.

| Duration |
- The programme is of three academic years duration, each year divided into two semester. The 2007-2010 session will commence in July 2007. Classes will be held from 6.15 pm to 8.30 pm on all days of the week except Sunday and notified Holidays. Seminars / Special classes may be scheduled on Sundays and other holidays.

Eligibility For Admission |
- The minimum qualification of candidates seeking admission to the programme would be a Bachelor's in Arts, Science, Law, Commerce, Medicine, Engineering or Technology from any recognised university or an equivalent degree or diploma.
- Candidate having experience as executives, supervisors in commercial or industrial organizations/ Government/ Defence personnel/ self-employed and possessing adequate knowledge of business operations will get preference.
- All candidates qualified in MAT would be called for GD and interview.
- Final year students are also eligible to apply provided they submit evidence of graduation within 90 days of the commencement of the session. Defaulters' admission would be cancelled. There would be no refund.

- Candidates seeking admission to the programme are to register their names with the institute by filling up the application form (attached with the prospectus) in all respects and should be submitted alongwith:
- One recent passport size colour photographs.
- Photocopy of Degree/Provisional Certificate.
- Mark sheet of the last degree examination passed
- A character certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended
- One copy of receipt of Rupees Seven Hundred Only in cash deposited in Bhavan's Usha and Lakshmi Mittal Institute of Management, New Delhi as registration fees for PGDM (Part Time) entrance examination. Outstation candidates may deposit the amount through Demand Draft in favour of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, payable at New Delhi. Cheque will not be acceptable.
- Employed candidates are required to submit details regarding the nature, length etc. of their service.
- Admission to the programme will be made on the basis of a written test, group discussion , Interview etc. The candidates selected will be required to complete all admission formalities and pay the fees within one week of the announcement of the admission through display of the list on the notice board.
- All admissions made will be provisional unless approved by the Admission Committee of the College which has the right to reject any application without assigning any reason thereof.

- The institute has one of the largest collections of management books and is also an Institutional Member of International Libraries. The Library subscribes to several business Magazines and Periodicals of Indian and International repute. An excellent video library catering to various disciplines in management is available to students. The department has sufficient internet facilities and students can sign-up for internet training and use.
- Student assignment are devised in a manner to develop their ability to research and organise information from the best and the latest in publications and other information sources.

Computer Centre and A.V. Studio |
- The students are exposed to the latest trends and developments in the field of Management through audio visual aids. A well-equipped Audio Visual Studio (A.V. Studio) and a Computer lab with the latest software / business packages are provided with exclusive facilities for the management students.
- Advanced server with more than 65 HCL terminals and stand-alone computers are accessible to students.
- Students undergo a complete and thorough orientation in computers to prepare them to effectively function in a modern business environment.
- The computer lab is available in the afternoon from 2.00 pm onwards to facilitate the PGDM (Part/Time) students in acquiring the latest skills in computers, at no extra cost.

- The candidate shall become eligible to take the end of semester Examination only if he / she has, besides fulfilling other requirements, attended 75% of the total number of lectures , tutorials and seminars conducted during that Semester in the subject concerned unless otherwise allowed by the appropriate authority.

Internship & Practical Training |
- While most of Bhavan's students are working executives, and are undergoing practical on-the-job training experience in their regular corporate positions, all students are expected to undergo "practical training" during summer break and submit focused report.
- Those who do not have a position with corporations, are aided in obtaining the practical work assignments in the Industry through Bhavan's Management Group.

- Selected students are given a chance to work closely with Bhavan's regular faculty on their work, research and consultancy. This again provides the students with opportunities to develop research, interact with business, use initiative, and shoulder responsibility. Students can volunteer to work in specific areas of interest ranging from Marketing, Advertising, Finance, HRD etc.

- The institute has an active Placement Cell which assists the students, in the final year of the programme, in obtaining suitable positions. It continuously counsels and guides the students in their endeavour to plan their long term goals.

- The maximum marks allotted to each paper will be 100. Of these, minimum 30 marks will be reserved for INTERNAL ASSESSMENT which shall be based on class-room participation, periodic tests, projects, presentations, cases, and home assignments. The professor concerned, at the beginning of the Semester, shall determine/decide the weightage to each of these. The remaining marks in each paper shall be for written examination of three hours duration conducted at the end of each Semester. The project work in lieu of a paper in the Sixth Semester will commerce at the beginning of the Fifth Semester.
- The candidate has to secure a minimum of 45% marks for passing in each paper.

- The candidates will have to clear three fourths (minimum 7 papers) of the total number of papers in each year for promotion to the next year. The papers in which candidates do not qualify for a pass in the 1st or 2nd year, shall have to be cleared in the 2nd or 3rd year respectively by taking the examinations in those papers along with the other students of the year or through Supplementary Examinations conducted by the institute. Candidates securing 60% marks or more will be awarded First Division. No students will be allowed to appear more than three times in any subjects supplementary exam and students obtaining more than 3 supplementary will not be allowed to continue in the programme, unless there is sufficient reason acceptable to the Programme Coordinator/Director of the institute.

(Fees are to be paid in a single installment at the beginning of the academic year. Fees once paid will NOT be refunded.)

- However, in exceptional cases, for the students who have acute financial problems, the Institute may consider acceptance of annual fee, on receipt of their application through the faculty programme coordinator, in installments.

- The focus of the curriculum is to develop cutting edge managers - functional specialists with a general management orientation.
- Part I of the curriculum provides primary in different functional areas like OB, Marketing, Accounting, Financial Management, Qualitative Technique and Economics.
- Part II builds on the input provided in Part 1 and provides state of the art inputs / skills in functional areas of management to empower the students in applying tools and techniques in handling varied challenges of their managerial roles.
- Part I and Part II are compulsory for all students. Part III provides an opportunity to students to acquire specialisations in the chosen functional areas (majors) by selecting courses from a wide assortment of contemporary optionals.
- During the 3 year programme, a student should atleast complete 32 subjects, 10 in first year, 10 in second years and 12 in third years. Opportunities are also provided to the students to complete more than 32 subjects, by holding optional classes on weekends, without any additional costs. This allows the students to obtain more than one major in the specialisation areas at no additional cost.
